Things are about to get wild in the concrete jungle as New York City is transformed into the Amazon rainforest. Times Square, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, is filled with over half a million visitors each day. We are proud to announce that throughout April, Earth Month, these visitors will be transported to the majestic Amazon through an immersive installation featuring a participatory audio experience and interactive video. The SoundWalk Collective Presents Jungle-Ized in New York City We’re partnering with innovative artists Soundwalk Collective to present JUNGLE-IZED: A Conversation With Nature, a month-long interactive art installation in the heart of Times Square. This self-guided journey begins with a visit to the Audio-Technica sound booth located on the Broadway pedestrian plaza between 46th and 47th Street. There you’ll download the JUNGLE-IZED app on your smartphone and borrow a pair of our ATH-M70x headphones. Once you slip those cans on you will be transported to the Amazon, as a virtual soundscape transforms Times Square.Jungle-ized App As you venture through the streets of New York you’ll be accompanied by the voices of Shipibo shamans and narration by Amazon experts Jeremy Narby and Daniel Pinchbeck. The ATH-M70x’s extremely accurate reproduction ensures that none of the Amazon’s auditory brilliance is lost during the experience. “It has been invigorating to follow and be part of this installation,” said Sohichiro Matsumoto, A-T’s Global Creative Director. “From the recording of the sounds of the jungle through our microphones in the Amazon to the playback in April on Times Square, we are proud that Audio-Technica could play a role in fulfilling Soundwalk’s vision of bringing the jungle voice to the city; in delivering the voice of the Earth.” The excitement doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Each night from 11:57 p.m. to midnight Times Square’s famous billboards will showcase JUNGLE-IZED the video, directed by Stephan Crasneanscki of Soundwalk Collective. This interactive film surrounds viewers with the animals and tribal inhabitants of the Amazon. Jungle-izedEarth Month was established to raise awareness and appreciation for our planet and JUNGLE-IZED carries on this message. Designed to encourage thoughtful discussions on nature and the environmental impact of climate change, the installation aims to inspire and educate. JUNGLE-IZED serves as the ultimate celebration of the world’s natural beauty, a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience that is not to be missed. The JUNGLE-IZED interactive art installation occurs daily from April 1 - 30, 2016. For full details visit www.JUNGLE-IZED.com.
