How do I set up my PC for use with the ATR3350iS microphone? ATR3350iS
Answer: The following instructions will assist you in setting up your PC so that its internal sound card will work with the ATR3350iS lavalier microphone. While some of the pictures used here may not match exactly what you see on your computer, they should be similar enough to guide you through the process. If you missed last week’s post about how to connect the ATR3350iS to your computer, you can read it here.
  1. Plug the ATR3350iS 3.5mm TRS cable into the microphone input on your PC.

*Note: this may cause feedback if the signal from your speakers reenters the microphone. You may also experience a slight delay in the sound, which is referred to as latency and is further discussed here Step 6
  1. Back on the Sound Settings window, click on the “Playback” tab and make certain your computer’s internal speakers are set as the default device. If it is not, select this as the default device by right-clicking on the Speakers and selecting “Set as Default Device.”
Step 7As you tap on the microphone, you will see the meter on the Recording tab move, indicating that sound is being received. Step 8You are now set up to use the microphone with the recording programs on your computer. You may need to set your desired input device (your internal soundcard) and your desired output device (internal speakers) within the recording software you use. Programs vary, so contact the software manufacturer to inquire further about the specific settings for their software.
