On September 22, Audio-Technica was accompanied by a select group of A-T distributors, studio owners, and leading music technology press from across Europe to showcase its 50 Series microphones, including its new AT5047 microphone. Held at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios near Bath, England, the 50 Series event was an immersive media experience that gave guests a behind-the-scenes look at how the new AT5047 is produced, complete with live performances using the newest A-T microphone. Guests gathered in the studio’s impressive control room, known as “The Big Room,” and were welcomed by a video message from A-T President Kazuo Matsushita. Attendees also enjoyed presentations from others at A-T Europe and Japan on topics including A-T’s history, microphone engineering history, AT5047 development, and A-T artist endorsements. These presentations led up to the much-anticipated preview of the AT5047 in action. Acoustic guitar ace Chris Woods and his Groove Orchestra, and kora player Kweku Mainoo stopped by for exclusive live-in-the-studio performances. “We were delighted to showcase our 50 Series microphones at this exclusive event – and Real World Studios proved the perfect setting to highlight the natural, dynamic nature of the new AT5047,” said Tim Page, A-T Europe marketing manager professional audio. “It was a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the 50 Series and fully experience their capabilities in one of the most prestigious recording spaces in the world.” Take a look behind the scenes of the AT5047 microphone’s production. The video below shows how each AT5047 is handcrafted and inspected by A-T’s highly skilled team in Japan.
