In this installment of guest blogger Frank Klepacki’s series on music production Frank takes the BP4073 for a field test and lets us hear the results. If you missed Frank’s previous post, you can read it here. Recently I had an opportunity to attend a car destruction event done by construction vehicles, at “Dig This” in Las Vegas. Gathering unique sounds like this for my own sound library and post work is something I do fairly often, and I wondered how the engine noise vs. destruction sounds would factor in a quick comparison. I’ve known the A-T BP4073 to be very directional, so I thought it would make for an interesting comparison to hear the difference between a good quality camera mic and the A-T mic. As you will hear in this video, the rejection of engine noise is very considerable, and I was pleased with the results. K-Tek windscreens were used on the camera and on the A-T mic.  -Frank Klepacki Frank Klepacki is an award-winning composer for video games and television, including Command & Conquer, Star Wars: Empire at War, and MMA sports programs such as Ultimate Fighting Championship and Inside MMA.
