Question: How do I disable the mute function on a System 10 transmitter?

Answer: The transmitters for all of the System 10 wireless systems allow the audio to be muted by briefly pressing the power/mute button, which is located on the bottom of handheld transmitters and on the top of body-pack transmitters. In order to lessen confusion and prevent usage errors, however, you may at times want to disable the mute function. This can be especially helpful if transmitters are being passed between multiple users or if a single user is moving from one transmitter to the next.

When the transmitter is on and the audio is active, the indicator light is green (see photo). When the audio is muted, the indicator light is red (see photo). When the transmitter is turned off, the indicator light is also off.

Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How Do I Disable the Mute Function on a System 10 Transmitter?

Often, it makes sense to disable the mute function so that users aren’t confused about whether a transmitter is on, off or just muted. This will make the determination very simple: on or off.

To disable the mute function do the following:

  1. With the microphone powered off, open the battery compartment.
  2. Press and hold the pair button.
  3. While continuing to hold the pair button, power on the microphone.

Now the only option available is power on or power off.

To re-enable the mute function:

  1. With the microphone powered off, open the battery compartment.
  2. Press and hold the pair button.
  3. While continuing to hold the pair button, power on the microphone.

That is all there is to it! As always, if you have any further questions on the best ways to use the System 10 in your application, please feel free to contact us here in the Audio Solutions Department.
